Online gig workers are independent contractors, online platform workers, contract firm workers, on-call workers and temporary workers. Including people working from home and different types of online freelancers.
Other characteristics of online gig workers have are:
- They are paid per ‘online gig’.
- They do not have a formal, permanent contract with their employer.
- They have to pay taxes themselves.
- They often work from home and/or as digital nomad.
- They often are solopreneurs.
