From the start of the Internet and even more so since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide, saving money in the online gig economy has become increasingly important for many entrepreneurs online including for me personally. What exactly is the online gig economy?
The online gig economy is an online economy in which people hire each other for online and offline jobs. The online gig economy has exploded from about the year 2000 due to the rise of the Internet and sites such as Fiverr, which was founded in 2010.
Online platforms are important in many different ways in the online gig economy. Everybody knows Uber and many other online platforms where people get paid per ‘gig’. However, you can also save money in the online gig economy gigs offline and online by doing it yourself in times of crisis.
Examples of popular online gigs are for instance graphic design gigs like logos for your website, designing complete websites, repairing errors in you WordPress-sites like this one, or what I Iearned to do since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis includinng desiging and producing e-covers in many different designs, desiging and producing different kinds of mockups, desiging and producing isometrics and scripting and producing different types of short videos.
By having learned how to do that just-in-time, I save a lot of money, time and energy.
Other examples are on-demand services around writing. Including serial writing blogs, columns and short ebooks, correcting an ebook or reading a book to make an audiobook. In all these examples, I save a lot of money by doing it myself just-in-time. It’s fun, it’s creative and it saves me a ton of money, time and energy. It’s all about cashflow, the rest is b.s. And I love it.
And how about you? Do you like the current life you are leading? Or would you like to change, ‘pivot your life’ also?
